Short answer: Start with the removable filter and spray-arm openings, then wipe the seal and run the manufacturer-approved cleaning cycle. Do not force parts or poke blindly into a pump area. Find the parts the cycle cannot clean
Food debris collects in the filter, around the sump, in spray-arm holes, and along the lower door lip. Those areas can keep returning grit and odor even when the tub looks clean.
Clean removable parts gently
Turn the machine off, remove only parts described as removable in the manual, rinse them under running water, and use a soft brush. Refit the filter securely so debris does not bypass it.
Finish with the right cycle
Wipe the door gasket and detergent cup, clear the lower rack path, and run the cleaning product or hot cycle the manufacturer allows. Leave the door ajar only as the manual and household safety allow.
