What changed in the expansion
The July 2 recall covered about 1,719,995 brushes across eight listed models. The August expansion adds more named models and older brushes sold individually or in sets before 2020. The clearest current rule is broader than a model list: CPSC says every Cuisinart-branded wire-bristle grill brush is included.
Why the brushes were recalled
CPSC says small metal bristles can detach, remain on a grill or food, and then be swallowed. The agency reports at least 54 reports and reviews involving detached bristles, including three consumers who swallowed metal bristles and sought medical treatment to remove them from the digestive tract or throat.
How to identify an affected brush
- Check the cleaning surface. The recall applies to brushes that use metal wire bristles.
- Check the brand. Many have “Cuisinart” stamped on the handle, but CPSC notes that FCB-501 and CCB-395 handles are not stamped.
- Do not rely only on packaging. Some brushes were sold within tool sets, and older packaging may be gone.
- Treat all Cuisinart wire-bristle designs as included. Handles may be black plastic, stainless steel, or wood.
Newly listed models
The expansion names CGWM-024, CGWM-059, FCB-501, CGS-W18, CCB-134, CGWM-061, CB-395, CCB-3001, CGWM-077, CGWM-058, CCB-012/021, CGWM-060, and FBH-51. Previously listed models remain recalled: CCB-100, CCB-4125, CCB-5014, CCB-6450, CCB-8012, CCB-4114, CCB-W2, and CSBS-777.
Brushes sold inside sets
CPSC says affected brushes were also sold in the Premium Grill 10 Piece set (CGS-2010), 13 Piece Wooden Handle Grill Tool Set (CGS-W13), 14 Piece Deluxe Stainless Steel Grill Set (CGS-5014), 20 Piece Deluxe Grill Set (CGS-5020), and the newly listed 18 Piece Wooden Handle Grill Set (CGS-W18).
What owners should do
- Stop using the brush immediately.
- Contact Conair. Call 888-520-1304 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, or use the official recall website linked below.
- Choose the offered remedy. CPSC says consumers can request a full cash refund or a Cuisinart.com credit equal to the full refund plus 20% of the cash-refund amount.
- Follow the recall disposal instructions. Consumers will be asked to discard the recalled brush.
Possible swallowed bristle?
This recall involves a serious ingestion hazard. If someone may have swallowed a metal bristle or has concerning symptoms after eating grilled food, seek prompt medical advice rather than attempting a home remedy.
Where and when they were sold
CPSC says recalled brushes were sold at Walmart, Burlington, TJ Maxx, and Ross, and online through retailers including Amazon and Cuisinart.com, from June 2009 through March 2026 for about $8 to $20.

Do not spend time trying to prove an old Cuisinart wire-bristle brush is outside the recall solely because you cannot find a model number.
